After starting the beginning of the fall semester, I've been trying to get into healthier habits. I started exercising, eating healthier, and taking care of my mental health.
Every Saturday, I have a Pilates class at 10:00 am. Afterward, I was supposed to attend the tryouts for the Equestrian Team on Campus. However, I was a part of the team last semester and I don't believe it's what I'm truly looking for. I want to be on my schedule with a carefree attitude. Plus the stables are over an hour away without including traffic; so no thank you.
Anyway, instead of attending tryouts, I decided to go for a hike at the Prince William Forest. I found a trail I was looking to hike on the AllTrails App, which I have a love-hate relationship with from another hike that happened in Ibiza while I was studying abroad which left me stranded on a mountain as the sun was setting.
You might be wondering why the title of this post is "The Difference Between Miles & Kilometers". It is because of the AllTrails App! Often the speedometer from my car will accidentally convert to kilometers from miles, and when it does the number is always significantly bigger than its original miles per hour. Therefore, my all-knowing self assumed the hike that I selected was around 8 or so miles while my AllTrails App said "20km". Even with 8 miles, I thought I'd only be hiking for a couple of hours because I can walk a mile within 20 minutes on a treadmill, so I figured I could hike 4 miles within an hour and so on. I completely underestimated the amount of time that I'd be hiking because as I was approaching hour four of the hike I started to grow anxious. After all, the park would close at 5 and I believe it was about 4:30 pm when I decided to walk the road back to my car...in the rain with 6km left to go. Thankfully, the road significantly shortened the distance between myself and my car. Overall, it is important to note that 1 kilometer is approximately equal to 0.62137119 miles.
Also, I want to emphasize that it is very important to carry pepper spray and hiking pools as a female hiking alone! Although I completely forgot to carry either item...I am convinced I heard a bear and will without a doubt be carrying both items next time.
Below I've attached a few captured moments from the hike.

Hike looks beautiful. Thanks for sharing. 🥾 🍁
